This is the ultimate “lazy-gourmet” comfort food. It takes the best part of potstickers—the juicy filling and crispy bottoms—and bakes them in a savory, bubbling sauce that coats every bite.
Crispy Chili Oil Dumpling Bake
- Prep time: 5 minutes
- Cook time: 25 minutes
- Total time: 30 minutes
- Servings: 3-4 people
Ingredients
- 1 bag (approx. 20-25 pieces) Frozen dumplings or potstickers (pork, chicken, or veggie)
- 1 cup Chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Chili crunch or chili oil
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 tsp Freshly grated ginger (optional)
- 1 cup Shredded mozzarella or monterey jack (for a fusion twist)
- 2 Green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat: Set your oven to 200°C (400°F). Lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish (about 9×13 inch).
- Arrange: Place the frozen dumplings in a single layer in the baking dish. They can be touching, but don’t stack them too high so they cook evenly.
- Mix the Sauce: In a small jug or bowl, whisk together the broth, soy sauce, chili crunch, sesame oil, and ginger.
- The Pour: Pour the liquid mixture over the dumplings. The liquid should come about halfway up the sides of the dumplings. This “steams” the tops while the bottoms get tender.
- Bake (Phase 1): Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- The Cheese Topping: Remove the foil. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the dumplings.
- Bake (Phase 2): Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown and the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Garnish: Finish with a generous sprinkle of sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
Enjoy!
